From ‘new bean on the block’ to ‘best bean in the UK for growth’ – and it only took two years. That’s something to boast about for Hampshire-based coffee systems and supplies organisation, The Coffee Bean Company.
At Douwe Egberts ‘Overall Growth Award 2010/11’ in November, a delighted Robin Woodward, Business Development Manager for The Coffee Bean Company, accepted the award presented by Russell Bailey, Managing Director at Douwe Egberts.
The Award recognises a roasting performance in overall sales growth in percentage and value. Established in 2009, The Coffee Bean Company took just two years to become a leading South Coast supplier of Douwe Egberts’ hot beverage systems and supplies.
Held at the Copthorne Millennium Hotel in Gatwick, London, Douwe Egberts distributors from throughout the UK gathered to support and celebrate the lucky winner’s achievement, as Robin Woodward comments:
“The Award evening was the happy culmination of a lot of hard work. Despite a challenging economic climate, in record time we have managed to establish and grow our business to a nationally recognised level. Our business strategy obviously works which augurs well for sustained growth.
“Established in 1753, Douwe Egberts has a substantial head start on The Coffee Bean Company – but we’re working on it!
“A big thank you to Douwe Egberts and well done to everyone involved – especially Team Bean.”
Catering students from Eastleigh College are one step closer to gaining their BTEC Extended Diploma in Hospitality thanks to our training in the fine art of Italian barista coffee-making.
Held at our in-house Coffee School, the students gained hands-on experience in preparing and serving espresso-based coffee drinks on a commercial espresso machine.
They have to get it right first time or the coffee can be bitter and without its signature foamed milk crown – the blank canvas for coffee art for those with the flair.
The students covered all aspects of this process from operating the machine, setting the grinder and tamping through to extraction times, water temperature and milk frothing.
Bellissimo barista coffee everyone – and good luck for the future!
